Want your own profile set up so it is harder to clone?
See our Facebook account setup service →This checker gives a guide based on common warning signs, not a final verdict. A real profile can show a few of these signs. Nothing you tick is saved or sent anywhere.
How the Fake Profile Checker Works
Open the suspicious profile in another tab and tick every warning sign you can see. Each sign has a weight, and strong signs such as asking for money or codes count the most. The meter shows how suspicious the profile looks, and the steps below it change based on whether the profile is pretending to be you or someone you do not know.
The result is a guide, not a final verdict. Real profiles can show one or two of these signs, but several signs together are a clear reason to be careful.
Signs of a Fake or Cloned Facebook Profile
Profile Details
Fake profiles are often new, with only a handful of photos and missing or copied details. Cloned profiles copy a real person's name and pictures, sometimes with a small spelling change.
Friends and Activity
Real profiles build up years of posts, comments and connections. A profile with almost no activity, or one that sends you a request when you are already friends with the real person, deserves a closer look.
Behavior
The strongest sign is what the profile asks for. Requests for money, gift cards, login codes or clicks on unusual links are the clearest signs of a scam.
Fake Profile vs Cloned Profile
A fake profile is an invented person, often used for scams or spam. A cloned profile copies a real person's name and photos to trick their friends into trusting it. Both should be reported, but a clone of your own profile also means warning your friends quickly.
Common Scams from Fake Profiles
- Emergency money requests from a "friend" who is stuck or in trouble.
- Code scams asking you to share a code sent to your phone, which hands over your account.
- Prize or voting links that lead to fake login pages.
- Romance or investment offers that slowly build trust before asking for money.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can this tool tell me for sure if a profile is fake?
No tool can be completely sure. The checker shows how many common warning signs a profile has, so you can decide how careful to be.
Will the person know I checked or reported their profile?
This tool does not connect to Facebook, so no one is notified when you use it. Reports made on Facebook are also kept anonymous.
What should I do if I already sent money or a code?
If you shared a code, secure your account right away by changing your password and turning on two-factor authentication. If you sent money, contact your bank or payment provider as soon as possible.
How can I stop my profile from being cloned?
Set your friends list to "Only me", limit who can see your photos and posts, and use your profile's privacy settings to share less publicly.
